The event, Rockets’ Red Glare: Space Race Classics, is part of the Adult Summer Reading Program and was inspired by the reading program’s theme, A Universe of Stories. Critic Larry Ratliff will use presentation software and movie clips to revisit space-themed films, such as The Right Stuff, October Sky, and Apollo 13. Mr. Ratliff has more than 30 years of experience as a film critic and served as a movie feature writer for the San Antonio Express-News from 1996 to 2009. His previous presentations have included a critique of Casablanca and an overview of Academy Award-winning films.
