As of 2 p.m. April 24, the Garland Health Department (GHD) is reporting 291 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Garland residents, as well as 10 deaths (see statistics on the Disease Information page):

So far, 135 Garland cases have recovered, meaning at least seven days have passed since symptom onset and the patient has been fever free with respiratory symptom improvement for 72 hours without medication. The City will update our posted case numbers each afternoon after 2 p.m. Check the Dallas County website for county-wide updates.

On Friday, April 24, Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs announced that Texas will provide rental assistance to Texans experiences housing challenges due to COVID-19. Details are available on the Governor’s website.

Various drive-thru testing sites are available in north Texas, please check the State Health Services website for a location map and other important information.  

On April 17, Governor Greg Abbott signed an Executive Order authorizing the re-opening of retail businesses across Texas effective Friday, April 24. The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) offers guidance for business on how to re-open safely for both employees and customers.

The City of Garland’s ordinance regarding Shelter-in-Place is consistent with the most current Dallas County order, which is currently in effect until 11:59 p.m. April 30, 2020. See the latest orders and declarations from the State of Texas and Dallas County
