[ARCHIVED] Staying Active through COVID-19

Coomer Park Trail

We know you have read the alerts, the reports on the news, and the City of Garland’s disaster declaration on March 17 that resulted in closures of several City facilities. But, what you may not know is that Garland’s outdoor parks are not affected and are still open!

We want to remind everyone to practice good social distancing, staying six feet apart from other visitors, washing your hands, and any other means necessary to keep you healthy.  For more information on tips and recommendations, and to stay up-to-date on our community updates, visit the City of Garland Public Health Department Disease Information page

Garland has a ton of great outdoor opportunities to stay active and healthy. Check out the list below:

  • Garland has 63 parks - visit them all! (Garland Parks Listing)
  • Plan a fun walk or ride your bike on our Trails - remember to follow physical distancing guidelines of a minimum of 6ft between you and others.
  • Go on a nature expedition! Share your photos with us - @PlayGarland on Facebook & Instagram
  • Go fishing at Ablon Park Pond
  • Fly a kit (when the weather is nice, of course)
  • Play Tennis at your nearest park tennis courts!
  • Create a scavenger hunt for the whole family.
  • Take selfies at 506 Art or any Downtown Garland mural, presented by the Downtown Development Office
  • Pay your respects at the Veterans Tribute Garden
