[ARCHIVED] The Wall That Heals Arrival Route and Welcome Home Ceremony Announced

Children greeting The Wall That Heals

You are invited to welcome The Wall That Heals by lining the streets of the arrival route. The exhibit will enter Garland at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, and make its way to Audubon Park. View a map of the arrival route (PDF).

There will be a special Welcome Home Ceremony at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27. This event gives us the chance to welcome The Wall That Heals to Garland and North Texas, as well as honor those who served in Vietnam and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center, is coming to Garland Thursday, Feb. 27, through Sunday, March 1. The exhibit will be on display at Audubon Park, 342 W. Oates Road, and will be open 24 hours, free to the public. The City of Garland and Visit Garland are leading the effort that will bring the exhibit to the metroplex. The Wall That Heals honors the more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War and it bears the names of the 58,276 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
