[ARCHIVED] Garland Storm Damage Update

City of Garland emergency crews continue to assess damage from Sunday night’s severe storms. Significant property damage is being reported in some areas, however, there have been no serious injuries.

As of noon Monday, about 700 Garland Power & Light customers were without power. Several transmission lines were downed by the storm, disabling two power substations. The majority of the outages are in southwestern Garland. For more outage information, check the Garland Power & Light outage web page. Most of the damage reported is located between Shiloh Road and Glenbrook Drive and Miller Road to Forest Lane/Avenue B. Roof damage, downed trees and power lines, scattered debris and some structural damage are being reported. Crews are working to secure power lines and clear debris from roadways. Please avoid the area and allow the crews to restore services to the neighborhood.

Shiloh Road between Forest Lane and Kingsley Road is closed due to debris and downed power lines. Many traffic lights is the damage area are not functioning. Motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching intersections.

City brush and bulky crews will begin picking up debris in affected areas Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. The City’s Building Inspection teams will begin checking damaged homes and businesses Monday as well.
