Garland Water Utilities is a member of the regional Wastewater and Treatment Education Roundtable (WATER).  This industry working group is coordinated by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).  The NCTCOG is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, established to assist in regional planning for 16 counties.  NCTCOG's purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions.

For more than 50 years, NCTCOG's programs and departments encompass transportation planning, environment and development, aging and disability resources, emergency preparedness, demographic research, regional training, criminal justice, 911 emergency numbers, a regional police academy, and more.

The W.A.T.E.R group identifies common issues in the wastewater industry in order to share information on challenges, solutions and experiences.  It is a great opportunity to work alongside other cities and organizations on projects and common goals that benefits the entire Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

As part of the North Central Texas Council of Governments, Garland also participates in regional projects, like the annual North Central Texas Holiday Grease Roundup.
